CAPPY ‘09
“Awesome day!”

“Great ride, good food, lots of laughs, what could be better?!”
This is a very good news story which many helped make. They include:
- A record breaking 190 riders and passengers who also broke the record for pledges raised
- The generosity of this year’s Sponsors
- Our fabulous police escorts who again ensured a safe ride along a scenic route that included a relaxing rest stop at Balls Falls
- The efforts of more than 40 volunteers who kept the day humming
Kim Johnson, past Chair, CAPPY Planning Committee; Dan McLean, Honorary Ride Chair; Marjorie Grainge, Chair, CAPPY ’09 Planning Committee; Councillor Bob Bratina; Anna Allevato, Executive Director, Community Child Abuse Council
Extra special thanks goes to the totally awesome, very hard working, dedicated CAPPY ‘09 Planning Committee and Southern Cruisers Riding Club. You are angels to our children and youth. You wow us every year with your energy and commitment - and you have our most grateful heart.
By all counts this year’s CAPPY Ride surpassed even our own expectations! Over $36,000 was raised in support of the Community Child Abuse Council of Canada and its vision to create a community free of child abuse! That’s 46% per cent over funds raised last year. Wow! We are truly heartened, encouraged and energized by the support, generosity, and commitment shown through this year’s CAPPY.
Margaret Maillet, top pledge earner this year, and special guest, Brian Melo
Our sincere appreciation also goes to:
- Dan McLean, our Honorary Ride Captain
- Councillor Bob Bratina
- Deputy Chief Eric Girt
- Brian Melo, the Council’s Honorary Campaign Chair, for making a special appearance
The CAPPY Ride is the premiere annual fundraiser for the Council. Thanks to everyone who participated this year. Your support helps to ensure excellence in service for sexually victimized children and youth; helps us pursue new and better child abuse prevention and treatment initiatives, and raise awareness about child abuse. Your support and contributions are important investments in creating a better, more hope-filled future for many abused children. We absolutely couldn’t do it without all of you!

More information about the Council’s programs and services can be found on our website at www.childabusecouncil.on.ca
Looking forward to seeing you all again for CAPPY ‘10 - and welcoming new Riders and new sponsors too!!
