Internship Program
In 2009-10 the Council piloted an Internship Training Program with funding support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This advanced training institute combined theory and professionally supervised direct practice in the area of child sexual victimization. The training's focus was on comprehensive trauma and abuse assessments and related intervention and treatment in this highly specialized area of practice.
There were six graduates of the Internship Program in its initial year. We sincerely thank the Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Hamilton, and the Regional Indian Centre for their support and involvement.
The Council revised the Internship Training Program, informed by the pilot experience, and is now offering a combination of theoretical seminars and supervised direct practice. Candidates will require a minimum Masters level or equivalent in psychology, social work, or related field, and preferably be working in the field. For further information about the Internship Training Program, please contact Nancy Falls, Ed.D., Clinical Director, at 905-523-1020 ext. 13.
